War of Syria
Sham Mohammad al-Seid. Sham Samir al-Hamida. Sham Taleb. Sham Tomeh. These are four of the 144.308 victims of the Syrian war identified with first and last name. Over eight days, in four cities on three continents, a man and a woman read the funeral list in an uninterrupted fashion: day and night, at times with the public and others without it, their mouths unceasingly cast the names of Who the war reduces to figures. This is the last performance of the Spanish artist Santiago Sierra, the names of those fallen in the Syrian conflict from March 15, 2011 until March 31, 2016. VOCABULARY: War: guerra
